For some reason, I can't post status updates. I can't comment on friends' (or any) posts. And on third-party websites that us the FB commenting system, I can't even see the comments.
I can share other people's posts, but that's about it.
What the heck did I do? Anyone have any ideas?

apparently there are intermittent Fb bugs that cause problems such as yours.

I'll see if there's any help to be had there. Appreciate it!

(20,176 posts)I'm on my way to a work meeting...but what you're describing is what happens when someone's account gets put on timeout because it's been flagged for spam. Unfortunately, that can be initiated by something as simple as someone reporting your post as spam...there's little non-computer oversight in the first steps.
If it's that, the flag will be reviewed by a human within a few hours and as long as you're not the Dread Pirate Spammy, your account will be reinstated.
...or it could be a bug. It does happen that the server glitches sometimes in code-fixing and mass-flags random people.

Thanks for the offer, I'll see if it clears (seems unlikely, this has been going on for a week-ish...)

(6,530 posts)It's still a problem, and has been for a week or two.
I'm worried that my super-outdated OS is causing this. Mac OS X 10.5.8
I can't post status updates, can't reply to comments, and can't see comments on third-party sites like Buzzfeed.
I can share posts, like posts, and repost from third-party websites.
I don't know if you can help, but FB help isn't really super helpful so far. Really appreciate any ideas you might have!

(20,176 posts)Facebook is basically coded and run as a series of scripting processes, which is why someone like Matt Kruse of Better Facebook can write an applet that allows total customization of the user-interface and feed-processing. As long as your browser can handle JSON (a variant of JavaScript), you can run Facebook.
I'm not sure what could cause this error to persist for more than a week. What browser are you using...and does it allow you to run add-ons? If so, try shutting them all off and see if it corrects itself. Turn them back on one-by-one until it occurs again...my guess however is that it's going to be your ad-blocking application...I love them, but they can cause all sorts of problems in terms of website functionality.

(20,176 posts)I mean something else could occur to me, but for the moment I'm tapped out of ideas.
