BREAKING: Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones & Jason Bonham to re-form Led Zeppelin with Axl Rose

CNN New York: Guitarist Jimmy Page announced today that at the close of AC/DC's tour with Axl Rose, the surviving members of Led Zeppelin plus John Bonham's son Jason will unite as Led Zeppelin. They plan to record an album of new material and tour the U.S. and Europe in late 2017.

"I heard Axl perform AC/DC's "Whole Lotta Rosie" and knew he was the man for us. As you know, Robert has vetoed the notion of touring on many occasions. I regret his decision but respect it, and am quite sure he will wholeheartedly support us as we move forward with Axl." Robert Plant could not be reached for comment.

Page was finally convinced that this was a fitting new chapter in the legacy of his legendary band when he and the other members met in secret for a rehearsal with Axl. "We were doing "Whole Lotta Love," and at the end he screamed "WOMAN! Wayyyyyy down insiiiide, youuuuuuu sha na na na na na na na na NEED, NEED it," and I felt cold chills rise up over my entire body. Don't get me wrong...Robert did a fine job as our vocalist. But this was the first time I'd heard our music the way I've always felt it should be played."

Page continued "I also think "Chinese Democracy" was a classic for the ages, and album that made our own "Physical Graffiti" sound like a hastily assembled collection of outtakes from Winger or Poison."

"We also rehearsed "Ramble On," and Axl did a brilliant improv when he sang the lines "Do you know where you are? You're in the depths of MORDOR, baby! You're gonna DIIIIIIIIIIIIE." I don't know where he keeps coming up with these new and fresh and remarkable ideas but I am certainly looking forward to him breathing new life into our old classics."

Tickets for Led Zeppelin go on sale in mid-2007.
