We've had a hell of a rough day. Mrs. C called me to pick her up from work downtown, because she suddenly came down with a mother of a stomach virus (which probably means I'm going to have it soon). On my way to pick her up, my car died on the freeway. Completely. Had to wait for an hour next to rush hour traffic for AAA. In Minnesota. In winter. With a dreadfully sick wife who ended up having to take the bus home.
Sad Chichiri is sad.
EDIT: The car is dead. Forever dead. Time for a new one, which we can't afford. We are EXTREMELY lucky that we have a family that can help us out, to some extent.

(53,410 posts)If your credit is good then there's no reason not to lease a car. The monthly payments have come way down to under $200 a month.
You get a new car and pay on the lease until you buy it or just exchange it for another car.

(153,193 posts)could none of your wife's coworkers take her home? I remember one time I gave my car to a coworker when his wife had to keep his to visit a hospitalized child - I had him drop me off with my own car! I hope she feels better soon.
