That's either a definite yes or a definite no.

(12,272 posts)If the placement of Danielle Smith's image is purposeful, I think she would demand to have that second hubcap, for symmetry. So you are right, it would seem that the artist went from paper to big ol' bus without too much thought in between

Marketing WIN.

(23,339 posts)so dunno if anyone outside of Alberta would have heard of it.
I'd suspect it's conservative/Tory, just because there's what looks like an English flag on the bus.
Agree, it's a marketing win. I have a new appreciation of lugnuts.

(28,941 posts)Quebec's coat has three gold fleur de lys on a blue field. Nova Scotia, the St Andrew's blue saltire on a white field, Scotland's flag, with Scotland's royal coat of arms in the center.

They're a little scary...
Well, a lot of scary actually. What little I have read shows them to be of the bible thumping, puritanical type...
Alberta is a strange place...

This is a real company (http://www.fuecker-busreisen.de/das-unternehmen.html), and they also
have a driver's ed school. How'd you like THAT name on your certificate when you go to get your

(54,370 posts)On all literature and their busses, it's the family name as they spell it: "Fücker"
In German, the "ü" can be spelled as "ue" but it is usually only written that way for international correspondence since Germans know that not every language has ü.ä, or ö on their keyboards.
Of course it's not pronounced the same way, but how many native speakers of English know that?

OffWithTheirHeads
(10,337 posts)Several years ago, I was charged with installing the HVAC system in the new, Campbell Unified School District (Campbell, Ca.) school bus repair station. The Campbell School District sold the lot that their bus repair faculity was staged from and bought a new lot to construct the new facility on. One of the terms of the sale was that they had to vacate the existing lot by a certain date and move into the new facility.
Campbell Unified sold the old lot, bought the new lot and hired arcitects, engineers, drew up plans, submitted them for bid, awarded contracts and everything was ready to go. The architects and engineers specified a building whose structural steel framing could only be accomplished by a firm back east. (yeah right!) We waited for the structural steel to be fabricated, delivered and erected by the experts from the east coast. It finally arrived and erection proceeded. There was only one problem. Nobody had measured the height of the school busses. They would not be able to fit in the bus repair facility as it was designed. The busses were too tall! About a year later, a new design was submitted and approved. New structural steel was constructed and shipped to California and the structure was finally built.
Never in my life have I seen so much money squandered. I saw welding benches installed in the repair shop composed of butcher block Oak. I installed bathroom exhaust fans for two stall bathrooms that could have easily served small highrise buildings.
The corruption was rampant.
The system is broken. Stealing as much as you can from public works projects does not make us a better society and I saw it all the time in everything from school projects to retirement homes.
I did a gym in Saratoga. They bought the hardwood for the floor from some outfit in Sweden! They paid a fortune for it! It looked just like any other hardwood floor but it cost about 10 times what the floor would have cost locally.
