(46,585 posts)I've spent all kinds of money on "better" ingredients such as brioche, cream, vanilla pods, and pricey liqueur, but the best bread pudding I ever had was made out of crappy white bread, white sugar, and bits of mandarin oranges and pineapple. Yum.

(50,562 posts)The farmers up here put two-day-old bread in their cattle feed. They'll show up at the bakery thrift store and buy a whole trolley load of bread...and when they pull out of the parking lot, their pickups look just like that.

And now I'm curious, do you always buy that much milk and bread for an emergency or do you own a restaurant?
