(111,528 posts)Before I left work, there was a dull shift one night and someone had left the current issue of "People" in the break room. I leafed through it and didn't know who the hell any of those perfectly coiffed and manicured people were, acting as though they were surprised by the camera flash.
It's one hell of a weird feeling when you realize you've outgrown the popular culture. It's also a great relief not to care about any of them beyond a vague wish they'd behave themselves and send the tabloids back to reporting alien babies.

(63,221 posts)I am just like "Who the hell are these people?". The good thing is that I don't know or care so I don't feel compelled to pick up or by the stupid magazine in the first place.

(12,916 posts)Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
