Personality Quiz: Which Member of Led Zeppelin Are You?

http://www.bbcamerica.com/anglophenia/2015/08/personality-quiz-which-member-of-led-zeppelin-are-you/

It’s a rite of passage for rock lovers everywhere, to listen to the four distinct strands of interwoven music from the hands of the four members of Led Zeppelin and wonder which one best represents your abilities and achievements (albeit on a dramatically enhanced level).

Are you a Jimmy Page, standing over a bubbling cauldron of riffs and picking only the most choice and tasty morsels to work up into a song? Or a Robert Plant, music geek and part-time golden god? Are you a John Bonham, master of controlled brutality on the drum kit and uncontrolled behavior elsewhere? Or a John Paul Jones, the quiet, unflashy personality that serves to make everyone else seem 1000% better at their jobs?

Well, now we can put this matter to rest, once and for all. Quizzical graffiti, anyone?

Turns out I'm a John Paul Jones. Who would have thunked it. Then again he is the one that aged the best of the 4!

It's always the quiet ones, isn't it? You're an exceptionally talented and skilled individual, but you do tend to be overshadowed by your flashier mates, being very much the kind of person who takes their satisfaction from having done a job well rather than fretting about taking all the credit or milking the applause. You don't even mind if your contribution isn't that obvious at first glance. You know what you did, and you know that it matters and that's good enough for you.

This can sometimes mean that your friends overlook your contributions, assuming that they're doing all the heavy lifting, but they'll soon wind up dazed and confused, realizing on whose shoulders they've been standing the whole time. It's good to get out and show what you can do from time to time, of course, if only to prevent feeling trampled underfoot. But in general you're far happier when gluing everyone else together and enjoying the power of the collective that trying to muscle your way into the spotlight.

Then again, I've always had an affinity for bass players; plus, I sing an alto in a folk music chorus that I jokingly refer to as "bargain-counter tenor" since my voice is low enough for that as well! I do tend to see myself as a player with a steadying influence who keeps things gounded and leveled so that others can bounce off it and do their thing.

Like JPJ, I play bass, keyboards and did the arrangements for the band I worked with a few years ago. I'm quiet onstage but forceful in the studio and know what I am doing. And I am fine with that!

"You're a primal force. Good times, bad times, they're all one to you, as you're someone who goes after the things they want with single-minded dedication and a total disregard for the consequences. This can reap huge benefits, all that focus leads to great skill after all, but there are drawbacks too. Sometimes you're just too caught up in the moment to realize whose feelings your impulsive behavior can hurt, and that's a cause for potential communication breakdown of the sort you can't easily charm (or bulldoze) your way out of.

It's not really in your nature to outwardly worry about the impact your behavior may have on your nearest and dearest, and most of the time they know this about you as well and make allowances, but a little consideration goes a long way. There's no point crying into your beer when you could just as easily reach out, make amends and move on."

I guess I'm the jumbo version. If I was a golden god I'd probably be more like Thor.

"You're an extremely charismatic person with a wide range of interests and talents, and a tendency to follow your nose to see where it leads. This makes you exciting company when you're in the room, because no one is quite sure where you'll go next. But it can make you a slightly frustrating friend at times.

Plans to get together for a drink and a chat may go by the wayside because you're too interested in a new hobby or chatting to someone you've only just met, or off to a remote island. Thankfully people do know this is what you're like, and most of the time it causes no real friction. It's worth keeping an eye on your promises though, as you've a tendency to hint at commitment and then ramble on somewhere else.

Other than this, you have nothing to worry about: you're a golden god!"

I actually thought I'd be Bonham.

Those are fun; I always wonder what they base the questions on. What's the connection between Led Zeppelin and Harry Potter, lol?

John Paul Jones is probably the most underrated of the four. His musical history is unmatched after LZ broke up. It's a shame he doesn't get more attention... But then it probably doesn't matter to him. Of course there is only one other bass player that could match him.... That would be... Walter Becker of Steely Dan fame. IMHO
