an asset locator company? My brother passed recently so my sister and I are trying to get some information because our nephew, our brother's only child, is in a questionable place. In any case, as I was doing some searching online, I found some money that our grandmother had left in an unknown life insurance policy. I then stumbled upon an asset locator company. I'd be so thankful for any feedback anyone can give me. Thanks.

You can run a credit check for a nominal amount on your brother--if you have his social security #--and it should
identify all bank accounts he ever opened.
As far as checking unclaimed assets, you can check any states where he ever lived.
Here's some info for starting your search:

Good luck!

(3,275 posts)You can find it at the site below. You can put in your grandmother's name and find out how to go about claiming it as next of kin. It is free to do. The Forbes article has some information about life insurance policies. It is amazing how much money is unclaimed in this country.
