I remember seeing that episode as a kid when it aired in 1964. Two men, an America WWII vet and an American-Japanese man meet in an attic and each experience angst over the war. I remember the surprising ending when the ex American GI is impaled on a Japanese sword and Takei grabs it and jumps out the window yelling "Banzai". Supposedly, that episode has never been shown since in the United States and was banned from syndication because of protests over the back story of Takei's character's father as described in the episode as a traitor to the U.S. I remember it as a very powerful acting performance by Takei. He supposedly was also the narrating voice in the English dubbed version of the Japanese horror film Rodan (his first paid acting performance).

I've seen Claire Danes, Kerry Washington, Emmy Rossum, Vera Farmiga, Jennifer Garner, Amanda Peete, and Laura Linney in roles on that show before they were well known.

Oh hell, I almost left out Julia Roberts. Well, she was already the superstar Julia Roberts who was dating cast regular Benjamin Bratt at the time so just kidding there.

I may have left a few out.

It's a running joke in our family - every single time we are watching TV and we see someone who we wonder where we've seen them before we go to IMDB and look them up. Invariably they have been in an episode of Law & Order however that isn't usually where we recognize them from.

In the 1980's sword and sorcery movie "Krull" there was one character who who would go from village to village, and marry someone there.

He was played by Liam Neeson.

I think the Shat was in two different episodes, though?

I always look at that "Nightmare at 20,000 feet" episode and the most stunning thing is everybody lighting up & smoking on the plane.

He was accused of theft and Aunt Bee was on the jury. She held out against the other jurors to not con ict him because she thought he was a good man. They proved him not guilty during the trial and caught the real perp in the courtroom.

Edit to add: After reading this thread I discovered I'm the third to post about Jack Nicholson. Of course I included details the other did not include.

Stunning.

Has an acting Oscar nod ever gone to a boy though?

I think they reserve nods to child actors to cute little girls.

Not an odd looking little boy.

Christian Bale did grow into that face and nose however. lmao

He was basketball player #10. Matt Damon was in Mystic Pizza as the romantic leads younger brother. They both had one line. Brad Pitt was in the horror film Cutting Class. I saw it at a slumber party when I was a kid before he became famous. I like watching old films or tv shows and seeing a now famous actor or actress.

He played Maynard's odd cousin when Bob Denver got drafted in real life. Bob failed the physical and returned to the series. I regret they didn't keep both characters. Hell, they could have made the very first TV spin-off staring the two kooks.

in Independence Day 1996, he is near unrecognizable b/c he has a full head of hair, but his voice is distinctive, he plays the officer telling the air force brass that the "objects" are slowing down as they get closer to Earth.. Maybe 4 lines.

Jennifer Aniston on Leprechaun made it a decent B movie. Shades of a promising career.

When I read about Jerry Lewis' debacle movie, I thought of the one where a man was being taken to the gas chamber and began to march comically to assuage the fear of a child who was watching. Can't remember the name of it.

I guessed what was going on in that scene that made it into the trailer and refused to see it. I'm sure it was a great movie, but the impression lasts a very long time.
