(10,575 posts)The Super Bowl has a point spread that is very close in Las Vegas, but a computer simulator has figured out who will win.
Using an astounding array of analytics, the Predictalator on PredictionMachine.com ran 50,000 simulations of Super Bowl XLIX. And 57.5 percent of the time in its simulations, the Seattle Seahawks beat the New England Patriots.
And from these tens of thousands of simulations, the site has the Seahawks most likely winning by a 24-20 score.

oberliner
(58,724 posts)That will be the final score. I am very confident that the Patriots will win and that it will be something like the score I have indicated. Brady will come up big. The Seahawks won't be able to stop Gronk. Wilson was exposed by the Packers as a subpart QB. The Patriots have a brilliant coach. The Seahawks have no scary WRs or TEs. Teams don't win back to back SBs. Everything points to the Patriots.

(39,171 posts)Subpar my ass.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)He was awful. They needed some serious dumb luck in that game to win.
hack89
(39,171 posts)and present it as proof that he is a subpar QB?
oberliner
(58,724 posts)If so, I'd like to know about it.
hack89
(39,171 posts)Why is one game proof of any thing other than he had a bad game?
In any case, Tom Brady has had five 4 interception games in his career.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)I don't think you can argue that they are in the same league, can you?
hack89
(39,171 posts)his stats for his first three years are nearly identical to Brady's first three years.
Brady is a 15 year veteran who is a certain hall of famer - of course Brady is a better QB. But Wilson is good enough to beat Brady on Sunday.

Sure. It'll happen.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)Might have been too extreme initially.
All I can tell you for certain is the Patriots will win and there will be at least six touchdowns scored.
Dyedinthewoolliberal
(15,589 posts)Something along the lines of posting "The Seattle Seahawks Are The Greatest Team In The NFL!" if they win every day for month. If the Pats win, I'll do the same. What do you say?
oberliner
(58,724 posts)But you also have to add "And Oberliner correctly predicted their Super Bowl victory" or words to that effect.
Maybe just for a week though so it doesn't get too annoying for people.
I am telling you, though, the Patriots are a lock. There is no way I lose this.

(15,589 posts)but I can live with it. Not sure why that play was called. I was sure with three downs to use and a yard to go, Seattle would score. But, that's the way it goes!

(21,020 posts)deal with two Superbowl losses to the Giants (one being a lucky catch on the front of David Tyree's helmet), I can just imagine the sick feeling you probably have in your stomach right now.

(50,562 posts)This is Kam Chancellor flattening a guy who's got 38 pounds on Gronk:
They say, to be the man you have to beat the man. In the NFL today, there are two of "the man" - Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. In Super Bowl 48, Russell Wilson beat Peyton Manning like the redheaded stepchild that he is. In Super Bowl 49, Russell Wilson is going to smoke Tom Brady like a three-cent cigar.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)Peyton was out of gas at the end of the year - just like he was out of gas this year vs. the Colts.
Brady is still sharp and they've got a brilliant coach as well that knows how to change the game plan to win.
There is no doubt that Seattle is a very good team with a great defense, but they just don't match up well with the Pats.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)It's embarrassing how awful the Seahawks look on defense.
Patriots just march down at will.

GO HAWKS!!!
oberliner
(58,724 posts)NE plays exactly the kind of game that the SEA defense can't defend. They will rack up the points on them like they did vs. Indy and the Seahawks will be forced to play from behind.
hack89
(39,171 posts)the Hawks are very good against a short passing attack and they play the run well.

(58,724 posts)Sherman plays sideline almost exclusively.
Pats throw to Gronk, Edelman, and Amendola on crosses over the middle.

He is harder to tackle than Marshawn.

He is too much for the Seattle D which looks dreadful.

(11,833 posts)I think the Seahawks can win a close one or a blowout. Pats, maybe if they keep it close.
Rooting for Seahawks. I like their exciting style of uptempo play. And their uniforms.

The Puppy Bowl is also on Animal Planet at halftime.

No you didn't; you came here for an argument.
An argument isn't just contradiction.
It can be.
No it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
No it isn't.
Yes it is! It's not just contradiction.
Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.
Yes, but that's not just saying 'No it isn't.'

mythology
(9,527 posts)But I think in the end, cheaters can't really win. Sure either the team that spies and underinflates their footballs or the team that buys their performance enhancing drugs in bulk (with a coach who cheated to win in college as well) will technically be given the Super Bowl trophy, but like all those Tour de France titles Lance Armstrong had, the title is meaningless because it wasn't earned fairly.

(82,849 posts)Kansas City whipped both of them this year.
Dyedinthewoolliberal
(15,589 posts)doesn't drop a ball that hit him square in the numbers in the end zone, KC loses so I'm not sure they whipped the Hawks............
gratuitous
(82,849 posts)Of course, the Chiefs missed the playoffs entirely, but I suppose there will still be a market somewhere for t-shirts reading:
Kansas City 24
Super Bowl Champs 20
Dyedinthewoolliberal
(15,589 posts)Yes they did win and yes Kearse did drop the ball. I guess I was disputing the adjective- whipped to me means a far harsher loss than 24-20......

(21,020 posts)Please...PLEASE tell me that you're a time traveler who actually saw the end of the Superbowl.
I'm a Pats fan who's real nervous about that game. Wish I could have your level of confidence, but am also nervous about being overconfident and pissing off the Football Gods.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)Just supremely confident in this outcome.
pipi_k
(21,020 posts)in knowing just how you can be that confident...
As much as I'd like to watch the game, I won't be able to. It will screw up my stomach and digestive system.
What I'll do instead (which is what I've done for half the season) is record the game and then go in the bedroom while Mr Pipi watches it in the living room. If they win, I watch the game the next day. If they lose, at least I didn't make myself sick.
The only time I can stand watching real close games without taping them is when it involves two teams I don't care all that much about which one wins.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)It was be a Patriots win that will never be in doubt.
I am expecting 14-0 at the end of Q1.
pipi_k
(21,020 posts)Nope.
The score has to be 35 - 0 Pats ahead at the end of Q1 before I'll watch it.
Even then, if it's anywhere near a two TD game (Seahawks down) at the two minute warning in Q4, I will still be cowering in the bedroom.
Gotta do better than that.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)But when you return from your cowering, the Patriots will be holding the trophy.

(41,991 posts)And the Pats' day is done.
One. More. Day.
On a serious note, I have lived in Seattle for thirty years, having come from New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, a place where peoples' lives are built around enjoying things, making life a ball. Seattle has always been quiet, earnest and a little strange to me, liberal-Puritanical. I have had the best time watching this place lose its collective mind over the Seahawks than I have in all that time. It's gone absolutely nuts. It's a delight to see.
GO HAWKS!
oberliner
(58,724 posts)Hopefully folks in Seattle won't be too depressed by the Seahawks losing the Super Bowl.

(21,020 posts)That I hid out in the bedroom with my iPad and some knitting.
Kept checking in here, Facebook, and ESPN Game Cast.
When the score was 14 to 24 (SEA) I figured the Pats were going to lose.
Mr Pipi came in and got me during the last 20 seconds of the game.
Holy cow what a finish!!
I have to laugh now. Most of my Pats fans Facebook friends are saying they nearly had heart attacks during the game.
OK so you were partly right. Not a blowout, but they won. That's all that counts.
I am happy
Recorded the game so I can actually watch it tomorrow during the snowstorm.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)So I did get my whole prediction correct.
Enjoy watching the game tomorrow!
Brady was on fire as usual.
pipi_k
(21,020 posts)but it wasn't a blowout.
I wanted to see NE pummel the Seahawks the same way the Seahawks pummeled the Broncos last year.
Watching Brady doing a news conference right now. He sounds like he still has a bit of a cold. If that's true, then he really and truly did an awesome job. I have trouble making coffee when I have a cold.
