NBA Star John Wall Breaks Down, Cries Over Death Of 6-Year-Old Pal Miyah
Washington Wizards star John Wall broke down and cried after a thrilling double-overtime win over the Boston Celtics on Monday, but his emotions had very little to do with basketball. The All-Star was mourning the death of Miyah Telemaque-Nelson, a 6-year-old who lost her battle with cancer earlier in the day.
Wall had been friendly with and supportive of Miyah throughout her health struggles, even helping to facilitate the little girls meeting with Nicki Minaj last year, as Gossip Cop reported. The NBA star and the lymphoma patient kept in touch and had mutual admiration. On Monday, before he beat the Celtics, Wall learned Miyah had died.
During a post-game interview, he lost it. This was an emotional game for me. This is for Miyah, one of my close friends
Its just tough, man, to see a little kid fight so hard [against] cancer and cant beat it. This games for her, my jersey, my shorts, Im gonna give it to her family. Its a tough day for me. I really cried today, so
Wall then trailed off and bent over in tears.
It was a raw and powerful moment, and definitely not the type of thing you typically see at the end of an NBA game. Check out the video below, and tell us what you think.
