our household loved the show. we watched them every week.

I saw Seeger talking about it on some program, maybe the show that PBS did about Seeger.

Now, I would like to see the movie, Smothered.
Cesorship...and all because they dared to speak out against the Vietnam war, racism, etc.

I still had a B&W tv in my trailer, so it was the height of my week to go to the union to watch the color TV and the Brothers Smothers.

(15,822 posts)their resident guitarist gave a memorable farewell gesture, er, performance on their last show. Don't remember his name, but it was cleverly done.

(21,925 posts)Williams was a great comedy writer and wrote sketches for the Smothers brothers show and other comedians after that. He later wrote comedy sketches for Saturday Night Live. He was also a fine classical guitarist and wrote the big hit Classical Gas which he performed on the Smothers Brothers show.
