Hi!?
Long time no DU.
I'm not sure if there is anyone still around from my time. But wine + porch sitting + slight boredom = holyshitletsseewhat'sgoinonwithdemocraticunderground

(62,413 posts)big blow to the Lounge.
They were well after my time. I was a regular 2001-2005. But I just found the in memoriam page and there are, sadly, a number of names there that I recall fondly (AlienGirl, NNN0LHI, PurityOfEssence, stevedeshazer, 5thGenDemocrat, etc...). I was here when Kheph passed and remember how hard us Lounge folks took it.

(62,413 posts)she continued to post for as long as she could, so we were part of her dying process.
Always tough to lose a DU friend, but hers was really tough.
I started @ 2003 so was a real neophyte in your day.
Hope you hang around a while

(8,794 posts)God, she was fucking special.
Does DU even have moderators anymore? The board looks the same (which means, jesus guys, updatemuch?) but yet it feels so different!

(8,462 posts)Like posting political drama in the lounge.
The is a group who keeps the trolls and spammers out, called MIRt, the malicious intruder removal team.
Hiding posts (no longer are deleted) for cause are done by juries formed randomly from the membership.
So it's pretty automated now. And no water in the hot tub and the fridge is empty.
(A lot of this can be read in the link at the bottom of every page under "about"
Welcome back, though we never interacted..

(9,899 posts)Your user name does not ring a bell, but then again the 70's were pretty rough on my short term memory.

I think there are still a few people around from that era... not many, though.
