Looking at the radar, a good portion of New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine are under the storm now.
Its 30.1F here with steady rain; NE wind at 12 mph and 0.10" of ice accumulation so far.
Portions of the North Country in NYS have been declared States of Emergency by the Governor.
The overnight could not end sooner. Temperatures are supposed to moderate into the low 40's by mid afternoonon.
Hopefully all is well where you are...

(9,077 posts)Bracing now for 8-10" of snow with high winds. Blowing and drifting. Then it will drop to -15 Sunday night. I think winter has arrived.

(18,515 posts)still have electricity, but the "toe test" on the step reveals the presence of dangerous slick ice
we have a wood cookstove (with oven!) in the kitchen that hasn't been used in a couple years, but it's been declared "ready for use" (by people who know their stuff about stove & chimney hygiene)
we must have at least a year and a half's worth of cut, split, stacked and dried wood in the woodshed and in the cellar

Here in the Rheinland, we're singing "I'm dreaming of a Wet Christmas" about 3° (that's about 37°F) and raining. Yecch!

(14,881 posts)Everything has a thin coat of ice from the overnight. It wasn't doing much when I headed down to the barn to take care of Dahli. She wandered around outside for a while, and then decided to come back in.
By the time I was finished mucking out, it was a steady, but very fine drizzle. I was mostly worried about Jake on the ice, what with his bad hips, but it ended up being Luna who did a little ice dance while climbing the steps back in...

(17,250 posts)... in fact, it's 64F right now, which is actually not unusual for this time of year. Had a lot of rain, though, which washed away the snow accumulated during the cold snap.

(10,953 posts)are now looking for the ice to thaw.
I rode out the storm cat sitting/house sitting for a friend. They have a media room with the most comfortable chairs. I am working my way through the Oliver Stone history series on Showtime but after about 15-20 minutes I just want to take a nap. LOL! The best part is that I was able to put my car in a garage during the storm. I could not have asked for a better place to ride out the storm. I hope to go check on my house this afternoon.
