Planning 2013 (March --sp break) vacation anyone ever been on the pier at

Galveston or the Pier at New Oleans?

We cruise Royal Caribbean and usually fly to Miama and leave from there, but there are some great deals leaving out of Tx or N Orleans

Anyone live close by there or have used those ports of call?

You usually lose 2-3 days of the cruise just getting in and out of the Gulf of Mexico. I suppose they really aren't lost if you enjoy staying on the boat.

I suspect sailing out of NO might have the same problem, but I don't know.
