WTF: I'm being stalked by an automotive lightbulb company....

email exchanges: (mine in bold)

My order was:

Order date: Apr 30, 2013 3:05 PM PDT

Shipping Status Qty Item Price
1 K1111686 - Headlight (Left - Driver Side) $157.95
1 K1114743 - Fog Light (Left - Driver Side) $67.95

The headlight was correct. The Fog light shipped was for the Right - Passenger Side.

What are my next steps?

....................

Thank you for your order and email. Could you please let us know the part number you received on the
label (side of the box) and a best contact phone number. Also, if possible please send us a picture of the box
and the light itself.

....................

Sigh...

I'll just eat it.

....................

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your email. We are trying our best to help you. Our records show the
L-Driver side was shipped. So please let us know the part number or a picture so
we can be able to see what was shipped to you.

....................

The label was stripped from the box, then taped over. The part is an EXACT left-to-right reversal of the part I really needed.

I needed the part to pass inspection, so I took the bulb from the part you shipped, resealed the old part, and made do. I'll trash the rest.

With no labels, I have no idea how you could keep your inventory straight and apparently you don't.

Good news: the MAIN part was right (lucky me) and with the gaffed parts, I passed inspection.

....................

Thank you for your email. We did check with the warehouse and our records show
the driver side shipped. Please let us know a best contact phone number in case shipping
department may need to contact you.

....................

Give ME a phone number and I'll talk to you. Otherwise stop wasting my time.
Thanks
.

And here's where it gets weird: They tracked down my UNPUBLISHED cellphone number and CALLED ME last night. They admitted they shipped the wrong part, but still want me to ship the remaining pieces of the fog lamp back.

I was caught flatfooted and simply agreed I would on the phone so they would GO AWAY.

Has this ever happened to anyone here?

Think about where you have used your cell-phone number.
Did you use it when you placed the order?

online order - no phone number number given.

My clue should have been that THEY gave no phone number on their site.

that I setup on my Android phone.

So, even though I didn't give them my phone number, (as witness them asking for my phone number) obviously Google has it.

Betcha THAT'S how they got the number.

Microsoft took a fresh pop at Google yesterday, accusing its rival of invading Gmail users' privacy when scanning the contents of their emails to target them with personalised ads.
The attack, the latest volley in Microsoft's Scroogled campaign, comes with a website and is aimed to boost interest in the veteran software company's Outlook.com email service.
It follows a series of Scroogled adverts last year which targeted Google's controversial privacy policies.

I'm going through legal matters now. Either my lawyer's office or my accountant orders most of my documents. When the bank suggested online services I laughed while I explained why that isn't gonna happen.

A few months ago my yahoo account was hacked into twice.

Also ... I am sharing my computer with Jeff R.
I need two ways to log into DU.
I have to use IE to post youtube things most times. It's taken 1/2 an hour or more for each post on some days.

I'm reminded of an old 60s movie (forget which one ((Casino Royale??)) ) where, in the end, one agent reveals himself and puts the collar on someone only to have THEM reveal they are an agent working for a different spy agency. Soon 10 or 15 in the room do the same.

Many, many years back I got involved live (without anonymity) on an issue with a group a folks here. As time went on, many of them struck me as odd, so I bailed.

A month or two after I bailed, all hell broke loose and everyone, E V E R Y O N E, started to behave very badly and reputations were dragged though the mud.

Since then, I take who people say they are with a BIG grain of salt. Has it made me *somewhat* paranoid? How could it not?

That way you would know you were getting the right parts. I had both headlights go out within days of each other. I bought new ones at Auto Zone.

I called the local auto parts stores, and they wanted $300 plus for aftermarket - and it wasn't stocked. Dealer wanted $550 for the OEM part AND THEY DIDN'T STOCK THE PART.

Ordering online seemed like the right move.

You'll fight the good fight elsewhere.

Though these wrongs, however trivial, have a habit of sticking to us. I still remember a couple of things from decades ago--things that were over and done long ago...but still....

Those things have become almost meaningless to me now, so I think I'm doing better...or at least, I hope so.
