Except my leg is weak and really jerky. 44 days of hopping on one leg can make you feel like Frankenstein. "It's alive!" So basically I'm still on the walker and I'm going to physical therapy for a bit. Then I get a cane. Then I'm back to normal sort of. I'll be riding a unicycle before you know it!
Also got an eye exam and I have contacts now. I can see my face again! I forgot how long my nose was. And wow, I can see road signs again.

(149,699 posts)That is wonderful news, sweetie...
Your leg will strengthen and stop being so jerky. You WILL walk normally again. Progress is tough, but it does happen.
And I'm really glad you can see!

(28,394 posts)You and I are going through pretty much the same ordeal right now (remember me from the other post?)! But I am still on the walker. The doctor told me I was "overdoing it" and yanked me off the cane and the P.T. It has been 7 weeks..... I am ready to make some progress already. I am really antsy to get back to work. Dammit, I am running out of sick days!
Funny... I also need an eye exam. I had one scheduled but canceled it when I was in the hospital. My glasses are all bent out of shape and everything looks half-blurry.
Good luck to us both! So good to hear about your progress!

(3,521 posts)Slipped on the ice in January and broke my lower leg I 3 places. Had surgery to reconstruct my ankle. I'back to walking too and I can tell you limping is one hell of a lot better than not being able to walk at all. Goof luck in your recovery - the PT definitely helps.
I can zip, zoom, bang with those, but my armpits got swollen.

(12,272 posts)This last weekend Rot and I went to Victoria BC and saw a unicycle rider performing in the area around the harbor. His shtick was getting the observers involved in his attempt to balance/ride and juggle torches while making us all laugh. It took three guys to help him get up on it, of course this was part of the shtick, but still, just getting onto the thing is a feat.

(10,039 posts)Just look at that beauty.
You keep the seat lower than the shtick guy He was also wearing a green kilt and a Canadian hockey jersey. The kilt made for laughs, but I wouldn't recommend it as general attire while learning to ride ones unicycle.

(10,237 posts)really be careful with the unicycle okay ------everybody at one time wants to ride a unicycle but how many people do you see riding them ? About a minute into an attempt at unicycle skills I decided that base jumping might be safer.
