Not a fun night!
On edit:
all done, 3 polyps removed, all non-cancerous. But glad I did it.
Anyone out there. Get it done at 50 if you can. One of the best preventive checks you can do.
Thanks to everyone for the moral support last night. Made it do so much easier!!

(5,946 posts)did you ever have an anesthesiologist complain you moved too much under anesthesia? I believe that was their job, not my fault, but you could not tell this man anything,. I have restless leg syndrome, I can't be the only one he ever treated.

I cannot recall what "flavor" I selected, but there was absolutely no flavor. I think they beguiled* me.
*I appreciate the opportunity to use the title of one of my favorite Clint Eastwood movies.

As a result, I do this when the time comes up. I hate it, but I do it.

(4,833 posts)Had a little bleeding. Thought it was a 'roid.
By the time she got it checked, it had spread to her liver. Passed a few weeks later. About 15 years ago. I heard about it all from a mutual gal pal. Too late to say goodbye, or to attend the funeral.

I do like my doctor but he would refer me to a specialist.
I did have an exam several years ago.
But like so many test: time to repeat.

(12,037 posts)you're probably home free for the rest of your life.
Colon cancer is very slow-growing, so if you have no polyps or anything else suspicious, you're good for at least the next ten years. But if you have family history, you'll need another one eventually.

I am married to a Southerner, so the appropriate sentiment is "bless your heart." ... from my heart.

(66,509 posts)I'm about 6 years away from needing a baseline colonoscopy. Something to look forward to...
I'm sure I'll be okay; colon cancer doesn't run in my family.
But pancreatic cancer does. So I guess I won't be okay after all...
In_The_Wind
(72,300 posts)imo: if you are not having any issues with diabetes ... pancreatic cancer may not become a problem.
I haven't seen any studies about this but I'd be willing to bet the data is out there.

(66,509 posts)My father died of pancreatic cancer about four years ago, and he didn't have Diabetes. (Didn't have chronic pancreatitis, either, come to think of it...)
Now, if one undergoes a Whipple procedure for treatment of pancreatic cancer, then by definition, you will have Diabetes; since the functional portion of the organ will have been removed.

If you have any questions about Diabetes, or anything else medical, send it to me in a PM, and I'll answer what I can. Diabetes patients make up 2/3rds or so of my daily schedule...

(21,925 posts)that makes you sick to your stomach and run to the bathroom every few minutes. I know it's important to get checked, but I must have had an extreme reaction and a sensitive stomach because I had a very hard time.
