TWO power failures this morning. Nothing like resetting everything.

The new higher electric rates we got have given us outages on a clear day.

(716 posts)2. I've got everything on APC UPS units. They at least give you time to finish up.
The only thing you can't plug into the battery side of the unit is a laser printer. The draw when it starts up can kill the UPS. They've saved me many times and they aren't very expensive.

(716 posts)4. We're up in the 10 or more range - clock radios, lamps, cordess phones, etc.
I've got one for the entertainment center but only the lamps are on battery. It serves as a surge protector for the TV and stereo equipment.
