Today's College Football Thread (Conference Championship Edition)

The Pac-12 Championship Game was played last night (Stanford beat UCLA), as was the MAC Championship Game (Northern Illinois beat Kent State), and there are more championship games today.

#2 Alabama vs. #3 Georgia for the SEC Championship (winner plays Notre Dame for the national championship)
#12 Nebraska plays Wisconsin for the Big 10 Championship
#13 Florida State plays Georgia Tech for the ACC Championship

The Big 12 championship comes down to two games:
#18 Texas at #6 Kansas State
#11 Oklahoma at TCU.

If KSU and Oklahoma both win (or both lose), it's a two-way tie, with KSU getting the BCS bid because they beat OU earlier this season.

If KSU wins and Oklahoma loses, KSU wins outright.

If KSU loses and Oklahoma wins, the Sooners win outright.

The Big East will either be a three-way tie (Louisville, Rutgers, and Syracuse) or a four-way tie (if Cincinnati beats UConn today). Either way, Louisville will win the BCS bowl bid.

One other game of note: #20 Boise State plays Nevada. Right now, they're ranked #20 and Northern Illinois was ranked #21. If one of them gets into the top 16 of the BCS rankings on Sunday, the higher-ranked of the two will go to a BCS Bowl.

So what games are you looking forward to today, DU?

NIU has been my favorite MAC team for a long time. The MAC gets bashed a lot but it took NIU a loooong time to get where they are and they had some good players in LeShon Johnson and Michael "The Burner" Turner and still never won a MAC title until recently.

antipathies toward Bama, but am I morally obligated to cheer for the West? It's a conundrum (and I have fewer than three hours to work it out!)

Hey,
Well the Big 10 Championship game was pretty ugly. My Huskers got taken to the woodshed. I switched before half time. At least I had a good book to read.

Peace
