When, oh when, can we stop this absurdity?

(12,174 posts)I think we should "fall back" one hour a month, and NEVER "spring forward," so we gain an hour every month.
Downsides:
- more injuries from people falling off stools while adjusting clocks
- this time next year, day would be night and night would be day (that's an up side if you're a vampire)
- false sense of perpetual youth as we age more slowly due to the extra time we have

(2,842 posts)Sunrise and sunset in our time zone regime vary quite a bit depending on how far east or west you are in your time zone.
I like Daylight Savings Time but since I take my dog for a walk at 730AM, she has trouble adjusting to the differing light conditions. Takes 3 - 4 days.

(12,174 posts)I'd be perfectly happy with no "spring forward" or "fall back."
It's less stressful now that I'm in a work situation that's less clock-bound and don't have kids at home who are on a rigid schedule, but I still don't like the clock lag that comes twice a year.

One of the few "political" things this state as a whole does right. Back when they
introduced DST, it was pretty much voluntary for the first few years (though
virtually every state joined in).
.
Arizona tried it for a year, but there was so much backlash from Arizonans that
we opted out of it.
