Seismologists are very concerned with vertical motion in that initial quake. There have been many lesser aftershocks as the crust settles. CBC News.

1. First wave that hit island near the epicentre was 44 cm. Next wave 20 centimeters. In a coastal town

a few hours away the wave was down to 12 cm.

2. I was wondering about that. The reverberations could seriously complicate the hurricane damage.
