(8,601 posts)1. I find it amusing that Hot Space ended up in that bunch of 4 LPs.
You've got three examples of almost progressive British rock, and then an album steeped in Disco.
Not that I think that's a bad thing, mind you! I actually like a lot of disco, funk and R&B from the 70s and early 80s. But still, Hot Space is sticking out like a sore thumb in that combo.

(46,327 posts)2. Don't forget a couple days ago I recorded several K-Tel records.
Most from the disco era.
BTW, I love disco!

I recently discovered "Love of My Life" with Brian singing and it's quite interesting.
There is also a documentary about Brian May (that's Dr. Brian May, astrophysicist) on Youtube called "Brian May Long Away Documentary Part I"
At 14:18, he's wiping away tears after talking about bringing his dad over to New York to see them perform at Madison Square Garden, and his dad finally realized that he was a success as a rock star instead of a physicist.
Brian talks about a george formby ukelele banjo he started learning on, that was his father's. George formby is the guy represented on stage at the end of the video of "Free As a Bird".
