Any New Year's resolutions?

I resolve to write more. I also have a manuscript of short stories that I'm going to see about getting published whether I can do it through a publisher or self-publish. It still needs some work before I can shop it around so I resolve to get it all polished up and ready to roll.

I also resolve to drink better beer, have more sex, and take it easy.

Those sound like great resolutions!

Mine are ...well, sort of, anyway, rather similar...

More writing, and definitely more stuff getting published!

I'll leave the beer to you...

I already have taking it easy down to a science...

And for the sex, well...

Been catching myself doing it more lately and it just seems like something my grandfather would have done.

6. I save all of my change

I have a 5 gallon bucket here at the house and I throw my change into it every day. At the beginning of the year I take it to the bank, get it counted up, and splurge on something. I've had as much as $600 in there.

when I wanted to be prepared for a phone call or a vending machine. Not much call for that now. Bucket seems like the plan.

8. be a skinny regional field director who has the guts to ask someone out

Dec 2011

The first two I am not worried about. I have bosses who say I can be a regional field director and have encouraged me to apply for the positions.

I eat about 1200 calories a day and work out 6 days a week (when not working).

As for the last one-- I have had my eyes on him for awhile, and knew that he liked me for awhile, but he is as shy as I am. Last week, one of his friends confessed to me that he (and another friend of his) have a crush on me but were under the impression that I was seeing someone else (I was when they first met me last year, but he left me stranded and I am no longer seeing him).

I want to ask him if what his friend said to me was true. I'm just not sure the best way to do that without coming across as too pushy.

9. Don't worry about being too forward or "pushy"

I'm assuming that you are a female. Not too many guys can live on 1200 calories a day.

My wife Jen was the one who initiated contact between us and now here we are all married and stuff. I'm a straight male and I always had trouble approaching women. If Jen had not reached out to me I don't know if we ever would have met. So, to hell with them gender roles and go ahead and talk to the guy. No matter what happens you will never regret having not tried. Go for it.

12. thanks for the vote of confidence Tobin

I am female as you guessed, and normally have next to no luck with men (a few bad relationships that I still have scars from).

I am going to reach out to him tonight at midnight and send him a FB message wishing him happy new year. I'll be out but I will do so from my phone. Hopefully that will stir up conversation and I can find out if what he's been telling his friend about me is really true. Even if we just go out (without friends) to get to know each other better, I want something to come out of this.

Happy new year Tobin S.

11. I smoke, too. It's a terrible addiction.

I've quit for long periods of time in the past. Once for 2 years and another time for 7 months. More recently for 2 months. When I quit I just can't help but think that I'm depriving myself of one of life's great pleasures. Once I start again I realize that it really isn't that good, but I keep on smoking anyway. It is pleasurable to a certain degree.

I wish I would have never started. I was 11 when I had my first smoke and I've been an addict ever since then.
