"Don't think I'm being funny when I say
You got just what you deserve
I can't help feeling you found out today
You thought you were too good; you had a lot of nerve"

(4,807 posts)I'm basically frightened
Of moral turpitude
I'm scared of politicians
Who have no hobbies
As I get up in the morning
I'm afraid of increased weight
I'm afraid of people
Who don't think wrastlin's real
And I'm afraid of people
Who don't believe in the moonwalk
As I get up in the morning
I see lizards with Campho Phenique

(4,341 posts)You know old Ronnie Reagan
He was a shoe salesman's son
He got himself in the movies
Yeah, he impressed everyone
He thought trial by fire
Was America's fate
He made a joke of the poor people
And that made him a saint
But he was tan enough, he was rich enough
He was handsome like John Wayne
And there was no one at the country club
Who didn't feel the same
But it's a, it's a little uncanny
What he managed to do
Got me to read those Russian authors through and through

Try this one:
"Jesus rides beside me.
He never buys any smokes.
Hurry up!
Ain't you had enough of this stuff?
Ashtray floors, dirty clothes, and filthy jokes.
See, you're high and lonesome.
Try, and try, and try".
You got it!

(22,600 posts)Ohhh, so look at me from across the room
You're wearing your anguish again
Believe me, I know the feeling
It sucks you into the jaws of anger
Ohh, so breathe a little more deeply
All we have is this very moment
And I don't wanna do what his father
And his father, and his father did
I wanna be here now

don't wake me up yet
O the young and the old they get everything
and it's my turn
I'm here
I'm someone to know
I'm calling the tune but
I'm losing the words
Laughingly I take the fevered applause
of the people by the riverside
I'm Walking
walking on water
God knows why

It's going to be as long as I am tall, and I'm five foot ten inches in stocking feet.
Please, Boy Wonder, please come next Saturday and sleep for a week or two.
I will feed you breakfast in bed!
I will make your bed for you, and I like you so much that I want you to spend the whole summer with me.
I hope you know this is a girl writing."

(18,832 posts)There's nothing like Donnie Iris on stage.
He's in his 80s and the last time I saw him a couple years ago he went to his knees at the edge of the stage, then stood up without using his hands.
He took a year off to fight cancer but he's back.
JohnnyRingo
(18,832 posts)Being from the Keystone State, I imagine you already know what a Donnie Iris show is like.
I missed him while he was battling cancer, but he's back in the van!
Dulcinea
(6,824 posts)I've seen him a couple of times. He blew everyone else off the stage at a festival I saw him at some years ago.

(18,832 posts)Clue: the guitar player is a mime.
She was a woman who was twice my size
She looked into my eyes
She said "Only you can blow my blues away"
She said "I'll tell you what to do
Bring all your friends with you
And you can come up and see me any ol' time of day"
Ain't nothin' like a gang bang
Ain't nothin' like a gang bang
Ain't nothin' like a gang bang
To blow away the blues

Hints:
The band formed in San Francisco in 1967
They released two albums
They were featured on posters for shows at the Avalon Ballroom with many other bands, including:
The Doors
Procol Harum
The Paul Butterfield Blues Band
The Grateful Dead
Steve Miller
Santana
Quicksilver Messenger Service
and Big Brother and the Holding Company

(28,177 posts)Several of the band members were from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where they played in a band there.
After that band broke up, a few of them joined the San Francisco band I'm asking about.
The band from Idaho, after breaking up in 1968, re-formed in 1980 and are still performing.
Harker
(14,318 posts)The only band from Idaho I could think of is Paul Revere & the Raiders, and they formed in Boise and the dates don't match up.
red dog 1
(28,177 posts)The band wasn't really "from Idaho" ..(a couple of members moved from northern Idaho to SF, where the new band was formed)
Another hint:
The band's name is also a national landmark.
