their pages?
I usually have good experiences with purchases on Facebook, but this is the second time around where I fell victim to an obvious bait and switch. This is not Marketplace I'm talking about, but the adverts that pop-up on your live feeds. I think there are companies abroad that steal advert pages from real companies, and then replace the products with cheap junk. What you end up with is less than a knock-off.
I imagine that Facebook is getting paid for those adverts, so they are enabling this practice. Does anyone know if there is a special department to handle these situations? I would report it if the ad comes up again, but I haven't seen it in a while.

You have been immensely helpful. Thank you.

(3,552 posts)that looks like a hot air balloon and at night the balloon part lights up. They are solar powered. Anyway, in the ad, it looks like the whole thing is about 2 feet tall, but when I received it (from China) the whole thing was like 10 inches tall. It does work though and we hung it from a humingbird feeder pole and it does look cool at night, but it would be awesome if it was the size they advertised!

(46,958 posts)I ordered the smaller size, so I was not disappointed. But, yes, they measure from the height of the extended chain to the bottom of the basket. It does seem like cheating.
I got scammed worse than that. There was a great ad for stainglass animals and I ordered three. The photo definitely looked like glass. But they were cheap ceramics with painted stainglass look. Nothing like the pictures. The ad was terribly misleading.
It looks like some of those companies that post on Facebook are bait and switch manufacturers.

I once ordered a yard tool through one of those ads. It claimed to be German made and looked like a really good tool. It took forever for it to arrive, and when it did, the quality was the equivalent of a trinket you'd find in a cereal box. My credit card company didn't hesitate to refund my money (about $69)....
