I am going to the Retina specialist tomorrow at University of Rochester Medical Center to get an official diagnosis on whether or not I have macular degeneration or an injury of some sort in my left eye.
The doctor has excellent reviews, and credentials, so hopefully he will be able to help.

(7,047 posts)people say "I hope everything is all right." That seems to me good if the appointment is a checkup - but when it's for a symptom, I prefer to say, "My wish for you is that the problem is quickly found and easily treatable."

(2,889 posts)Macular degeneration is treatable now, it can be partially reversed and held at bay indefinitely.

(1,952 posts)The Retina specialist I saw today told me he didn't agree with the Opthamoligist's opinion that it is Macular Degeneration. He said a mass of blood cells developed under my left Retina likely due to my long term and acute Myopia. He thinks he can get the mass cleared by 3 eye injections. He said while it might come back, it will definitely clear my vision in the meantime, and they can always repeat the treatments. So I am so relieved.
