Brother Buzz
(36,486 posts)A fun movie on many levels; a comedy propaganda film right it the middle of the cold war.
I just viewed a horrible 'colorized' version that totally undermined the power of a black and white film.
VGNonly
(7,517 posts)This version is especially bad. The color/tone is all over the place. They don't even bother with colorizing most of the backgrounds. The audio sync is terrible. Ugh!
Another Wilder B/W gem is The Fortune Cookie. Especially notable for the first pairing of Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. Matthau won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for this film as "Whiplash" Willie Gingrich.

(1,898 posts)Its one of my favorite movies but then my family identifies with many of of the main characters challenges so it is fun to see him conquer some of the hardest things. The line I quoted is a pretty harsh one but at times in my life I have thought it as self preservation / defense from family members. That is so fun that you remembered the line!😁💗

I understand they built the San Pablo (diesel powered) for location shots in the Philippines, but built the triple expansion steam engine room in a Hollywood film studio.
VGNonly
(7,517 posts)is on display in Vista CA. The original vessel was built for the film. It was seaworthy and sturdy enough to spend about 10 years on commercial use. It was scrapped in 1975. My father was the engineering officer on LST-938, serving 1944-46. They had 2x diesel 900 hp power plants designed from locomotive engines. My Dad loved this film.
Brother Buzz
