(26,696 posts)walking toward us dressed all in white. Dave and I were stoned out of our minds. Leary stopped in front of us and said We are where they wish they were but never will be.
We saw him again a few days later at a party in the hills but couldnt get close to him.
For a couple of kids from Columbus it was a memory that would last a lifetime.

(7,407 posts)Some of the latest stuff on particle location descriptive information being stored by every particle itself is fascinating. Apparently the theoretical challenge would be read/write changes made to this information, but the even greater challenge would be to effect similar and instantaneous changes in all neighboring particles identified as being required. You wouldn't want to leave behind certain bits -- such as your early memories of physics, for instance.
If you're talking about spiritual or metaphysical teleportation, I'm not the guy for that. But I've read enough about the latest science on various attempts to identify and change single particle location -- the Japanese have done it, so have the Chinese (from orbiting satellites to the ground) -- it's a science in its infancy, and not simple to do especially for multiple particles held together in a precise form.
Nonetheless, it's possible. It will require tremendous computational power and a much more detailed understanding of the descriptors and their nature to actually make it work.
Now, if you mean story ideas -- there's a billion or two lying around. I've got a screenplay about a band of youth who learn to teleport themselves short distances, and a novel about an artificial intelligence who does it like breathing.
What's your focus? What are you looking for?

You don't to try and save a few bucks and end up with your inside on your outside and your outside on your inside.

(5,195 posts)Who was the graphics designer/scenic artist on Star Trek TNG, once received a phone call and was asked just how the Heisenberg Compensators worked. His reply?
"Very well, thank you!"
