Found on the WalesOnline FB page. This is thought to be the only solid color giraffe in the world. The only location listed is a US zoo.

"Its easy to spot the difference. A baby giraffe born and on view in a private Tennessee zoo is garnering global attention for its solid brown color devoid of the characteristic camouflage patches.
The 6-foot-tall giraffe was born on July 31 at Brights Zoo in Limestone, which said in a statement Monday that she is the only solid-colored living reticulated giraffe on the planet. The zoo hopes the spotless creature will help draw attention to the conservation of wild giraffes, whose numbers have dwindled in recent years...

"Wild populations are silently slipping into extinction, with 40 percent of the wild giraffe population lost in just the last 3 decades, Tony Bright, the founder of Brights Zoo, said in a statement, adding that the zoo was working to help the giraffe population through a breeding program."

I love watching these amazing animals. It's a treat when they show up on the Djuma Dam Cam.
No doubt my fascination started when I tuned in to the 'April the Giraffe' life feed, when she was waiting to give birth at Animal Adventure in NY state. I had just lost my sister and my mom and desperately needed something to distract me from grief. I checked the feed, non stop, until that baby was born.
I learned so much about them and now they are one of my favorite animals.

Connecting with other species is so healing and uplifting. I'm glad April helped see you through.

(2,569 posts)They have the most beautiful eyes of any living thing on our planet.
And the way they move? Sheer poetry! Apparently ambling along in a leisurely manner, no hurry, they can move at a good clip and cover a lot of distance. ( This is also why I adore tall girls, for what it's worth!)

(14,918 posts)Species discovered there have included mastodon, saber tooth cat, rhino, red panda and many more. Just imagine those creatures roaming around Tennessee! It was discovered accidentally during road construction about 20 years ago and there is now a museum and ongoing paleontology there.
