I hoping that my beloved Loungers can pop in tonight to keep me company.
It is monstrously hot out there! Got the room A/C going full blast...

(10,188 posts)Summers were extremely hot and its not even summer yet. What does CE stand for?

(149,611 posts)I'm sure it's hot, dear Aristus.
The eastern part of Washington State tends to be hot in the summers and cold in the winters.
I hope you'll survive your sojourn.

(66,328 posts)I turned my car's A/C off entering the Yakima Valley, so my radiator wouldn't overheat. They have warning signs and everything.

(10,188 posts)I dont think many modern cars have a problem running AC in hot weather. But I remember years ago my wife had a Nissan Sentra that was prone to overheating. There were times we actually ran the heater to get rid of some of the engine heat when it was really hot outside. That was miserable. But I think I had a Toyota when I lived there and never had a problem with the AC or overheating.

(66,328 posts)Central Valley in California. Had the A/C going. And it overheated right outside Red Bluff, 115F in the shade...

(10,188 posts)I left my AC on all the time. Good thing I didnt have to pay a big electricity bill in the summer.
Now that I think back I helped an old lady move to Yakima back in the early 80s, I could save her a bunch of money by towin a good size trailer so she didnt have to rent a truck. Me and a friend did the heavy lifting and I had an Oldsmobile with a 455 v8. It over heated on the pass going to Yakima. Had to hitchhike to the nearest town to get a new hose. She never got up tight about the situation and we had it fixed within an hours

(10,188 posts)But it was somehow inspired by trump insanity. I hadnt seen the movie in a long time so checked out a couple YouTube clips. The one that hit me (very well played by Bogart) was capt Queeg on the stand during the trial. At the end when he was ranting he seemed to slowly come to the realization that he was talking crazy. Unfortunately TFG and the other RW nut-jobs never seem to have that moment of clarity.

(66,328 posts)(nearly thirty years ago! Yikes!)
The guy who played Queeg killed it. You really felt sorry for him by the end. Our Queeg added a masterful touch: as he is dismissed, he shuffles off stage with his head hanging down. Just before he exits, he straightens up, and re-buttons his uniform coat. Trying to regain a little dignity.
Its the little gestures that humanize a character.

(36,423 posts)Singing in the bathtub
Sitting all alone
Tearing out a tonsil
Just like a baritone
Never take a shower
It's an awful pain
Singing in the shower's
Like singing in the rain
Oh, there is dirt to be abolished
But don't forget one thing
While the body's washed and polished
Sing, brother, sing!
You can yodel opera
Even while you scrub
Everybody's happy
While singing in the tub

(16,197 posts)Its always hot down here in Florida and the humidity doesnt help. Thankfully, Ive never had my a/c overheat in my car or home.. it would be quite miserable 😩. When I had my business, I had CE every two years to keep my license but never had to travel for it but, gotta do what ya gotta do. Safe travels up there and stay cool..

(66,328 posts)East of the Cascades, you're in the rain-shadow of the mountains, so it tends to get very hot and dry.

(16,197 posts)First time on snow skis and never got off the bunny trail. I fell so many times, it looked like I got beat up with all the bruises but I loved it! At night, it looked like diamonds on the mountains as the reflection from the moon just made it shine. Id love to get up there again and maybe to Montana and Wyoming because Ive always heard how you could look forever at the splendor of the mountains one of these days

(66,328 posts)And I'm sure there are Idahoans who don't consider themselves part of the Northwest.
Been there and have to agree. My youngest son used to live in Clarkston Wa and they considered themselves part of Idaho. He hated it there. Moved back home to California.
Stay cool and enjoy your AC.

I was busy getting to know new neighbors! I'm delighted - they were happy and relieved to see our Black Lives Matter and related signs tucked in to the front of our house here in rural red Washington.
My new rorschach tests!
Have a good CE!
