I do all of the time. I wish that I had majored in computer science and art history. I really regret not majoring in either.

(742 posts)Much of my logic derives from the knowledge and logic underlying those systems, on top of my familiarity with information technology. Even if you dont code (program) you can appreciate systems of assembly and process.

(15,137 posts)My father pushed me toward the sciences. He wanted to be a doctor, but couldn't afford med school during the depression. I tried science, but hated it. I would absolutely go back in time and study English or journalism.
Ultimately got a degree in sociology, mostly out of expediency.

(3,409 posts)to college for computer science because I couldnt handle heavy lifting or being on my feet 10 hour days. I'm happy as a Systems Analyst and also have done programming. But I still miss the medical profession.

(70,723 posts)Laid around reading novels and watching Gilligan's Island. The old Chinese men sat on the steps of our rent house, in their undershirts, smoking like chimneys, and rifling through boxes of punch cards.. I had NO/ZERO concept of what was happening.
Coulda gone from English & History into Law, or better yet "computer" or "programming" instead of ending up with a MA as a typist. Who knew?

(6,246 posts)were either architecture or theatrical design, two fields that are remarkably similar. I chose theatrical design and ended up in architecture for the first fifteen years of my career. Looking back, I sometimes wish I'd gone for architecture, but know that my life would have been different if I'd gone that way.
More to the story, but I wanted to answer your question.

(1,824 posts)I majored in English and never regretted it. During the dot-com bust when all the IT people who laughed at me were unemployed I was still working at a good job as an editor in tech documentation. But I dropped out of grad school and wished I'd finished. Also wish I'd completed my minor in theology.

I guess if there was more vibrant job market, astrophysics would have been a serious consideration.
But even back then, getting a good job as a chemist was pretty easy. So, I went chemistry all the way.
No regrets. I only brought up the astrophysics to better address your question.
