I've called and emailed the Insurance adjuster this morning. Got someone coming by to look at the roof and give me an estimate of what snow removal will be...

I'm gonna take some more pics and post them, the amount of snow is freaking unbelievable! After living here 30 years I have never been this overwhelmed.
My roommate is selling everything they can on Craigslist to help. I get paid tomorrow but still have to account for "normal" bills and we're living paycheck to paycheck.
If you can help I am eternally grateful...If not, please copy and share the link at least. Any help, even $10-20 is going to make this easier.
My folks helped me buy this place in 2017, and have always been the ones to help in these situations. Mom passed last year and Dad is in memory care and my sister has all the control now and our relationship is strained at best. I gotta figure this one out on my own.
Thank you DU peeps for always being there for me, you've helped me through grief of parental loss, teen angst and so much more. I look forward to paying it forward

(36,058 posts)I just got back from LA, and though it does need the water, how it's coming is not at all easy for CA.
Donated.

(13,360 posts)After the Caldor Fire we have lost a LOT of the vegetation and tree root systems that hold those hillsides in place. Could be a lot of slides
Not to mention the people who will get in trouble rafting and kayaking in strong snowmelt river currents... We aren't out the woods by a long shot!
Thank you

(36,058 posts)day and night, with hard damp cold temperatures. It felt like my old Chicago years.
Also, maybe you're in one of these counties that Gov Newsom has declared a state of emergency. Check and see, because you might qualify for some FEMA help.
Besides LA, the other 12 counties under the order are: Amador, Kern, Madera, Mariposa, Mono, Nevada, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Sierra, Sonoma and Tulare.

(13,360 posts)sorry for the crappy angles, I literally have no place to stand to get pics. That kitchen window is at least 6' off the ground, so yea...it's an OCEAN of snow!

(13,360 posts)Roof guy coming tomorrow...adjuster and I are playing tag apparently, though she hasn't actually called me yet. ( I called and emailed and she sent an email asking me to call her...)
*eyeroll*
at least i HAVE insurance, right?
still trying to get someone out here for the deck too, just to lessen the load before more snow Saturday.
Please pray that the damn storm fizzles out! I'm DONE

(13,360 posts)Roads are not okay, can't believe people are still coming up here. The potholes are worse than ghetto Atlanta
(and that's straight from my partner's experience...though they DID just come out here a year ago and didn't believe me when I said the street signs would be buried)
so we got a couple things like butter (damn, rookie mistake to forget) and TP, gas...
Hopefully the snow/roof clearer shows up and gets it DONE
I hate the whole Tahoe-flake thing, and also no insurance person answering my calls and email
Bet me they call at 7am or some shit when I'm not prepared...
ANYWAY...
The drip into the pan on top of the cabinets is not comforting
...dumping it every couple hours.
We can now see the strips of drywall in the roof/window popping out
- looks like a previous patch job. Not that it matters to Homeowner's Insurance
on a funny note, we have a 7 MO kitten who is OBSESSED with the sink etc and shower and water dripping....
we are trying to drug her to sleep (vet approved CBD) and keep her in River's room or IDK to keep her from jumping on the fridge and the cabinets to play in the damn drips....

(13,360 posts)The one guy that gave me an estimate was over $5K! That was for the whole roof.
STILL can't get a hold of insurance people, even got the supervisor's number and ....left a freakin voicemail
I have to go to work and try to be productive.
sleeping for shit and the anxiety has my stomach all screwed up
if anyone wants to help: PayPal has less of a lag @Journalgrrl701
