Once I got to know a librarian

at my local branch. We would talk about every day events when I checked out books.

I must have gotten real comfortable because once I was checking out a stack of books and she pointed at one and said “that’s trash.”

Didn’t offend me. I laughed my ass off.

Librarian judgement. Silent or not, it’s a thing.

regarding what she considered 'trash' reading.

She hated 'romance' novels, and what she called "oversexed" (too much detail, not enough redeeming other aspects)

However, would she have ever pulled anything from the shelves? Not just NO but Hell! NO!

During the "Harry Potter Books are demonic" era she adamantly stared down anyone who thought they should be removed. She told them to not let their child read them if that was how they felt but she wasn't going to move them

She got offended if I didn't take them out, so often I did.

We had, um, different tastes in reading.
