(25,804 posts)They got horses from the Spanish and moved east. There also were no Native American settlements in my neighborhood. No artifacts. Native Americans always lived near water and we don't have any surface water here. We have fossils all over the place. The fossils are all 50 million years old.

The original known people are https://tappilam.org/. The lived along the San Antonio River. They were hunter gatherers, which consisted of family units and informal bands and alliances that came and went. They would often split into smaller bands as a means of survival and joined a larger band when it worked out for them. Many joined the missions and learned to farm. After they "graduated", they were given a small land grant. One of the purposes of the missions was to teach skills so that Native Americans could become taxpayers!
The missions were often raided by the Apaches and Comanches. The Tap Palim were very peaceful people.

Also, this map is not perfect -- it is a work in progress with tons of contributions from the community. Please send us fixes if you find errors.

(21,788 posts)The original 5 nations of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) League are missing from NY and southern Canada, as well as the other Iroquoian nations that were not part of the Confederacy.
Definitely an incomplete work in progress, but the idea is good.
I am on former Seneca land.
