If someone could hear for the first time today, what cd's would you rec

I was reading a post in GD where a person could finally hear music for the first time and I was wondering what cd's you'd try to give a person who had just now been able to hear.

I'd hate to blow someone's mind with Dark Side of the Moon on Day 1, but what else should they get inside their head and what else should be avoided?

Brian Eno: Music for Airports would be a safe and easy starter

because Beethoven had lost so much of his hearing when writing it. And Brother Iz's What a Wonderful World/Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

Even when she creates her own language in her compositions, it just sounds amazing.

As for what I'd suggest someone to listen to for a CD first time they can hear something I'd suggest Savinna Yannatou's lullabies CD.

I would start with the Flowers Duet, and then "Reverie" by Cranes, "Time to Say Goodbye" sung by Brightman and Bocelli.

This was the first musical I ever saw, and it moved me to tears. The grand music, the arrangements, the orchestra, the chorus, the soloists -- all wonderful. Perhaps not the very first thing to listen to, but definitely must be heard.

But I say Handel's "Messiah," (and I'm not particularly religious).

Upon hearing it for the first time, Haydn broke down in tears and said "He (Handel) is the master of us all!"
