(4,919 posts)... Never do that! Dogs need them to reflexively blink their eyes if something gets too close to them.
I'm surprised at how many professional groomers cut whiskers, too.

(34,056 posts)reminded me of my mom cutting my bangs when i was little
mostly they had an angle to them (she never could get them straight)
mom: come here and let me cut your hair
me as tweenager: stay away from me--i'm growing my bangs out!
mom: cut your nails -- they're getting too long
me as teenager: leave me alone
(she cuts my nails when i'm sleeping!)
later that morning:
me: what the fuck happened?
mom: you probably knocked your hands against the wall and broke your nails off.
(no kidding--she actually said that to me. sadly, for a minute or two, i believed her as i tried to imagine how hard my hands must've hit the wall and trying to figure out how i didn't break a finger or get a bruise)
she was something! and i miss her every day.

(90,714 posts)Shes poodle and Lhasa Apso and grows a thick wooly coat, so the haircut took me several sessions. The pandemic shutdown meant no more groomer haircuts, and eventually she could hardly see where she was going.
All I could say was, Your mom cuts your hair funny.
