(2,533 posts)I planted a small apple tree in my front lawn just after I moved in. It really doesn't get enough direct sunlight but every year it almost breaks its own branches with bunches of apples.
Add sugar,cinnamon & a little this/that & mash together for the filling. I've started teaching my daughters (Age 10/11) to make food from scratch. The bottom pastry sheet was huge & very hard to get right.The top was a lot easier & with leftover we decorated it...They did a great job.
I've always been the cook for the family-my wife is Elly May when it comes to cooking & she's also about the same with critters and thats just one of the reasons I'm still in love...

(18,998 posts)I used to hang around the kitchen when my mother was baking to catch the scraps left over...she would make tarts out of the leftover filling and dough and I wold be right there when they came out of the oven...
I think everyone should learn to cook from scratch...then you know what you are eating.
