I was in IT, and I started off in IT Help Desk. I can't tell you the number of times I saw ID-10T errors. I certainly wanted to tell people to unplug their computers and send them back because they weren't competent to use them on even a basic level.

Seriously, I had people tell me their mouse wouldn't work, when the problem was, they'd unplugged the mouse and forgotten to plug it back in! Or, they couldn't locate a file, swore they'd saved it in one location and now it "was deleted, all [their] work just gone". Now, if you'd looked at their desktop, you'd have seen a jumble of files and shortcuts...just a massive Charlie Foxtrot. After searching through that CF, I'd find the file in all that shite. 🤬🤦?♂️

The list of horror stories goes on and on. lol

... working with government agencies, schools, and small businesses. And yes, then stories could go on forever.

Here is one of my turning the table's stories. I started with the early with Apple products. The Apple II (pre-MAC). Schools were buying them in mass. They all came with 5 1/4" floppy drives. Apple teamed me up with the most prominent local vendor. So here is the story. All the Computers came with some early "business" software. I took one of the 5.25 floppy disks, folded it in half, stapled it together, put it in a business envelope with a note complaining that this disk doesn't work. Please fix it and return it ASAP.

I signed the intentionally terse letter Mike R. Hacker Technology Director.

It sat there at their office for several weeks until I made my next scheduled visit. At some point, I asked the owner how things were going, any problems, etc. The owner called down to the tech's room and told them to bring up the "idiot's letter." I lasted seconds before I burst out laughing. My face told the rest of the story.

Guess who bought lunch for the crew that day.
