1974 the last race features 2 drivers essentially tied for 1st place. This weekend's race will determine the Champion.

I dont know, hes a fine driver but Ive never really warmed to him.
What might be fun, though, is to bring him and Verstappen to Sonoma and have them run as road course ringers in the next NASCAR race there.

(17,366 posts)But I know very little about their backgrounds. I have heard/read that some people consider Hamilton a "whiner/excuse-maker." If that is true, I'd prefer that he loses. But what do I know, really???

(7,517 posts)They have given him a ride inferior to Red Bull almost all year long. The fact that Verstappen tripped on his dick in Q2 and has to start on soft tires may prove his undoing.

(17,234 posts)If Hamilton wins (as he ought), it will be his 8th championship, and one wonders if the other drivers (especially the Germans) are going to give him a fair chance at it. He's shown that he can win at will after letting Verstappen get a huge lead over him early in the season. My money would be on him except for this wild card, which I do think is something to be taken seriously.

(5,196 posts)The FIA needs to solidify their rules after last week and today. There's too much left up to the stewards in the heat of the competition.

(12,894 posts)Im not enough of a fan to understand those colored flags. Can you explain?
Thanks.

(5,196 posts)known as a safety car period in F1. The white flag is waved to alert the drivers they are starting the last lap of the race, and the checkered flag means the race is ended. In this instance, the race resuming with one lap to go constituted a simultaneous green flag and white flag condition, followed by the checkered flag one lap later.
In Nascar, if a race were to otherwise end under caution, it is written into their rules to complete the race with a two lap segment where the drivers resume racing, taking the green flag, followed by the white flag, and then the checkered flag, hence the name green-white-checker finish. The only time Nascar ends a race under a caution is due to inclement weather, or darkness, before the announced distance is completed. If a race fails to reach halfway, and must be postponed, it will resume the next day that conditions allowing racing until at least the halfway point can be reached to declare it an official race.
