Read the book.
I'd suggest book first then movie but you'll enjoy it either way.
What I utterly failed to communicate was that I read (past tense) before I saw the movie.
Both were exciting!
I saw the movie once since it came out, but I'll read the book prior to seeing the movie again.
I like to do the reading first in most cases - I enjoy being my own casting director, costume dept., etc. Too late here, though.
Have you read or seen The Shining (Stephen King)?
What part of New York are you in? Rhiannon12866 is up there in snow land. I lived in Jamestown for a few years, lake effect.
King wrote Shawshank and I haven't read that but I've seen the movie a few times. It's a masterpiece. I read the Shining when it came out and liked the style and especially the characterizations. The Stand was IMO amazing but hard to get into. It took me almost a week to get through the first 30 pages due to the eclectic start. The following weekend I read 100+. I finished the remaining 600 or so pages in 2 days. That was the abridged version which I've read is hard to find.
I think The Dead Zone might be a good place to start but maybe read some reviews.
