Two of my computers use cordless mice.
My main computer uses a trackball.
Another of my computers uses a corded mouse.
I absolutely hate touchpads.
What do you use?

(1,786 posts)It has 11 programmable buttons. Six are near where your thumb is, 2 more on the upper left side, well, here's a link:

The two batteries last a month or more, It is comfortable in the hand and if you are lazy like me, you can do things while gaming without leaning over for the keyboard.
I have the keys programmed and saved for each game. You can save unlimited files and it takes maybe 10 seconds to load a totally different key setup.
It has gotten more expensive lately but when I bought it 4 years ago, it was only $40. And it is still going strong.

(5,168 posts)Seriously, I use a cheap Logitech trackball. I forget the number. The ball is on the left, so my index finger moves the cursor, middle finger is left click, and ring finger does the right click.

(22,035 posts)Its maintenance-free, takes up very little space and is very precise.
An earlier Mac laptop (mid-90s) had a trackball with buttons around it. What a mess! The ball had to be cleaned very frequently, the plastic buttons would break periodically and it was kind of coarse in its accuracy.
At first, I resented the trackpad but Ive loved it now for years. Mice take up too much room for me. Additionally, I travel a lot and toting a mouse along would be a huge hassle.
Ah, well. To each their own!

(6,360 posts)It sat between the G and H keys I think. I got quite good at navigating with that thing. My next laptop had a touch pad that was okay, but I never really felt comfortable with it. The "nub" had become second nature to me. The pad not so much.
I long ago settled on a wireless mouse. If I were doing a lot of travelling, it might not be my first choice...

(14,274 posts)I use both a wireless mouse and a track pad simultaneously on my home computer. At work I use just a wireless mouse. I never took a shine to track balls.
