What might have been.

Rod Taylor's refusal to play Bond was one of the things that haunted him throughout his career, stating, "Producer Cubby Broccoli wanted me to screen test for James Bond when he was preparing Dr. No in 1961. I refused because I thought it was beneath me. I didn't think Bond would be successful in the movies. That was one of the greatest mistakes of my career! Every time a new Bond picture became a smash hit, I tore out my hair. Cubby and I have laughed about it ever since."

I'm surprised that Rod Taylor was considered for that role, because I thought it was only offered to actors from the UK. (Brits and Scots) Taylor was from Australia.

So I remember Rod Taylor in his early days, and he was a handsome attractive leading man. He played in a lot of memorable movies in the 1960's and 70's. I don't remember him having much of an Aussie accent, he mainly sounded "American" to me.

Sean Connery is Scottish of course, and he was a marvelous James Bond. Probably the best ever.
