To a young person who has never heard of them before?

After you have finished bemoaning what the world is coming to and feeling very old, where do you start the process?

I chose "The Spanish Inquisition" and gave the example of the comfy chair.

I also listed a few of their movies. __Life of Brian__ strikes me as an excellent starting place, because Christianity's broad sway gives a point of reference for most viewers. __Holy Grail__ *should* be fairly accessible, but someone completely unaware of Monty Python may not have heard of King Arthur.

What do you think?

Life of Brian is one of my favorites.

I don't know if you can explain Monty Python, because you can't really ever explain a joke.

(1,649 posts)This should be sung, (ironically, of course), during clashing protests with Anti-Reproduction Rights advocates. It will raise morale for the Pro-Reproduction Rights crowd, and confuse and possibly dismay the opposing side.

(484 posts)You might show them some of the skits first. Otherwise Brian would be my first pick, too. Don’t explain, surprise them.

This is still one of my favorite Monty Python skits.
