The New York Times has an article on the fast growing popularity of non alcoholic wines. As a former drinker of wine until I had to quit for health reasons, I find this article encouraging and I am taking it to show my wine store. I like the non alcoholic Merlot by F.R.E. but its Pinot Noir just tastes like grape juice.

This is welcome news to those of us who can't drink wine any more but still like the taste of it with food.

(63,912 posts)the fact that you miss the buzz. Unlike lots of habitual drinkers I really like the taste of Merlot and would appreciate the non alcohol bubbly the article talks about.
The article specifically answers your question. Hint: no, it's not "just fruit juice" or doesn't have to be.

(63,912 posts)my gastroenterologist said my liver enzyme count was too high and I had to stop drinking any alcohol, even wine. So I stopped, my gastro problems stopped, and I was fine. Since I had recently lost a beloved family member to alcohol, I was devastated. One day I get a call that she was in the hospital and went into full organ failure and couldn't be saved.
I guess I got the message pretty loud and clear.
