I wish my two ass- cats liked me that much. As it stands, I bring them gifts.

One of the young feral males once brought me a dead rat from I don't know where. He dropped it on the patio and I let him know I was not amused. He was still a kitten then and he hasn't brought another one since.

I've had cats do this (not to this extent) and never really understood why. Oftentimes, it's accompanied by a loud meow.

Love cats but they sure can be mysterious which, I suspect, is part of their charm.

That's why experts say you shouldn't scold them if they bring you a dead mouse or bird. They're showing their esteem and it confuses them if you react in horror.

Just thank the cat politely and tell him you're saving it for later.

I just wish they didn’t howl while they do it— it always sounds to me as if they’re distressed, and that tends to concern me.

toy and announces it by howling loudly with it between his teeth as he's marching towards me. It was alarming at first and sometimes still is when he decides to bestow his gift on me at 3:00 a.m.

He had a favorite toy - a fairly large stuffed animal - that he'd bring me (usually late at night) while loudly announcing his approach. If I heard muffled yowling coming toward me, I always knew he was carrying his toy.

My parents had a female cat that had kittens, and it started behaving that way afterwards, like a mother cat bringing prey back to her babies.

When we woke up, there was a circle of socks around our bed that he had carried from the basement laundry room to our second floor bedroom.
