(1,800 posts)Thanks for posting CaliforniaPeggy.
We were in Seattle during our summer vacation in 2016. Part of a cross country trip that also included Yellowstone Park. Wife & I absolutely love Seattle, stayed a few nights in Tukwila actually, did a bus tour of the city & region, and went to one of the local casino's - we sure miss travelling to the States and can't wait to again once this darn pandemic is under control.
Thanks again, & belated Happy New Year to you & yours.
Cheers, Pete

(149,699 posts)I've seen bits of Seattle too, and if the weather's good, it's a very beautiful city. I hope you can return safely some sweet day!
Belated Happy New Year to you and yours too!

(5,479 posts)Then backed up the livestream on YouTube and watched the animation again.
Amazing effects! They interviewed the head of the team that created it - they only had 2 months to do what they said would normally be a one-year task.

(26,045 posts)...I think they did an outstanding job while, at the same time, realizing that this will hopefully be a one-off production, and that next year well be back to crowds and fireworks. (And it certainly was better than last year, when and this should have been a sign for how the whole year was going to go the bigger than ever fireworks extravaganza they had been touting for days had to be canceled literally a few minutes beforehand because higher than expected winds made pyrotechnics unsafe. I wish they could have another show like this in the can in case that happens again, but it clearly wouldnt be practicable to spend the sort of money needed for a production like this on the off-chance that weather conditions might make it necessary.)

(149,699 posts)That had to be a major disappointment last year. Talk about harbingers of the year to come!
By next year, hopefully the pandemic will have been wrestled to the ground with the vaccine, and we can get back to crowds and fireworks.

(21,606 posts)Double helix, rotating electrons (I think), solar system, birth of a butterfly, etc. Even if you don't recognize the science patterns used, it's a beautiful visual display.

(17,635 posts)...show with Anderson and Andy for 3 hours in anticipation of the ball dropping at 9 pm then I was gonna call it a night..then much in fashion of 2020...my GD Satellite reception went out at 8:59 and I missed everything. I was so pissed.
But I did get to watch Anderson do Casa Amigo shots...I counted 5. For a non drinker that's a lot.
