(933 posts)I enjoy a nice montechristo or Ruben, too but my all time fav is a well made Cuban sammich with a Cuban espresso and a nice, cool glass of water.
Makes me all warm and sleepy.

Spicy honey mustard

bread
If not assembled in that order the dampness of the pickles and ham can soak into the bread, and that is a no no. Sometimes I substitute the honey mustard for Colmans mustard. Much hotter then.

The restaurant was in a casino that is closed for the time being. And I'm not going back into any casino until covid-19 is completely and thoroughly squished into nonexistence.

(14,891 posts)Funny - somehow I don't think of a burger (with a roll) as a sandwich! 😁 They're in a class by themselves.
I looove a really good burger with a roll, lettuce, tomato, red onion, bacon & cheese. I can enjoy it , even w/o the bacon.
I didn't have Tomato in my Grilled Cheese (Cheddar, or Swiss) until my early ? 30's - it was a revelation! 😄
Of course the tomato has to be a good summer tomato, like a NJ Beefsteak, or heirloom if possible.
I also add a smidge of garlic powder.
Provolone with mayo, garlic powder, good tomato, romaine lettuce, red onion round or long roll.
One more courtesy of a dinner stop in Indiana while I was bussing across the USA - Melted Swiss Cheese over hot turkey on a long roll. 👍
