The power is back on but the danger looms...

Many of you remember I have not had good luck with trees. Four have fallen on my house. It's not fun.

We got power back yesterday after it went out in the middle of the night Wednesday into Thursday. We lose power all the time so this was not surprising. What I heard but could not see were two trees that fell. One blocked the road and snapped the transformer off the pole. The other was a neighbor's very large oak falling into my even larger oak WHERE IT IS STILL PERCHED. Poor big tree is holding up the other in a tangle of wires and limbs. Neighbor still does not have power because it was ripped from their house. They haven't been successful in getting a tree company out to take down the tree.

Now, IF my big tree snaps, the mess could fall into the street. OR it could fall into my yard and across my driveway (becoming my problem to remove $$$). OR there is a slim chance, both could fall onto another tree which could then fall toward my house (which is what happened last time.) I have PTSD.

On top of this, the election is tomorrow and I am a ball of nerves.

I am grateful for power and internet (even though the cable lines are in the street for everyone to drive over as they gawk at the massive leaning tree - grrr). And I am grateful no one was hurt.

I will vote in the morning and then be on DU as much as possible tomorrow.

eek. sorry this happened to you so often!

directly out my back door and up a little hill is the tallest tree in the green strip. if it goes down it could slice my house in two. During Florence I obsessed about that tree. Made my son and I sleep downstairs even though we are miles away from where the real damage was going on.
