Okay, sports and Premier League fans... NBC sports live? Rant

Spouse is trying to get his Tottenham Hotspurs game today; this game is one of the ones on NBC Sports Live app vice Peacock, which he already pays for, but he can't view it unless he has a Cable provider also? It's a freaking app! He can't even stream it on his phone (which he will cast to the TV, of course).

With just basic cable costing an additional $120 a month, we turned to just buying the channel apps we watch FireTV - like all the other working stiffs who can't afford the $300+ a month for the internet bandwidth to support Zoom school and telework and the basic + premium app supporting cable service just to watch the games or events. And even then, the average team fan still has to pay $70 a month for the apps he/she can't get through the cable services even through their premium packages, like Peacock, Hulu plus, or CBS all access.
We carefully estimated what channel app we wanted for what we might watch and cut the cable.

Why does NBC live (including sports) still go with a piss-poor business model to require a cable subscription to watch? Is this some way of juicing up Comcast premium subscriptions along with the cost to get the Peacock app - where NBC made sure half his games are on? Other app services will allow you either pay for the app or pay through cable.

Just piss poor. Stuff NBC, spouse just signed for Sling TV to get access to NBC live. Another $20 a month just to be able to see half the games his team are going to pay.. Sigh.
